Oxford


 

In Great Britain between the rivers Thames and Cherwell a famous university of Oxford is situated. It was founded in 1167. The university unites 39 independent colleges. These colleges are located in the medieval buildings. The rooms of students are located on the building perimeter with a courtyard.

In every college exists a system of self-governing. The main people there are the Rector with the members of an Academic Council. Also in every college there are the library and the chapel.

 

In Oxford the biggest college is the Christ Church. Students call it “Home”. Many famous writers, poets, scientists and prime ministers of Great Britain studied in the Christ Church. Also here some parts of “Harry Potter” were written and some episodes of “Alice in Wonderland” were shot.

Now Oxford is one of the best known and prestigious universities in the world.
