Jonathan Swift

Jonathan Swift is an Anglo-Irish satirist, essayist, poet and public figure. He is best known as the author of the fantastic tetralogy "Gulliver's Travels" which wittily ridiculs human and social vices. Jonathan Swift lived in Dublin (Ireland), where he served as a Dean (Prior) at St Patrick's Cathedral. Despite its British origin, Swift vigorously defended the rights of ordinary Irish people and deserved sincere respect from them. Among his famous books are: "The Battle of the Books", "The Tale of the Barrel","A Diary for Stella", "Gulliver's Travels”.
